Crypto Payments Support for Amazon will not be added in the near future

Amazon President Andy Jassy says Amazon is not ready to support for payments made using cryptocurrency.

"We're not likely to be close to incorporating cryptocurrency as a payment method within our retail operations However, I am convinced over time , you'll see crypto grow in importance," Jassy said.

However, Jassy was the one who made these comments during the CNBC interview that was broadcast on Thursday admit that the idea was "possible in the future" that Amazon could sell NFTs.

Jassy's crypto analysis comes amid the recent speculation suggesting that Amazon could eventually allow customers to pay with cryptocurrency.

"We're in awe of the new innovations that is taking place in the cryptocurrency industry and we're exploring how it could mean for Amazon," read a company statement that was made available to Decryptat at the time.

We believe that the future will be built upon new technologies that allow for rapid, modern and affordable payments. We we hope to bring this the future of payments to Amazon customers in the near future."

Amazon Web Services -- the cloud platform of Amazon advertised for an Director of Products to join the team at Amazon Managed Blockchain. The job description was a call for candidates with experience working in the field of the decentralized financial system (DeFi).

Additionally Amazon's Advertising FinTech team was in search of an experienced Senior Software Engineer to be involved in "financial ledger system, reconciliation and billing systems." The job didn't explicitly make reference to blockchain or crypto technologies however, the website for the job did.

Jassy is himself a person who has had a long association of blockchain as well.

He succeeded Jeff Bezos as Amazon CEO after his tenure for a time as Amazon Web Services Chief Executive Officer in which he introduced Cloud Platform's Amazon Managed Blockchain services.
